Green energy supplier Octopus Energy has ordered 23 Peugeot e-Expert vans for its London-based fleet. The pure electric vans will be used to help the firm’s engineering arm install electric vehicle charging points across the capital.
Having previously worked with a fleet of 60 Peugeot Expert diesel vans, Octopus will be making the switch over to electric variants over the summer, as the energy supplier continues to build on the sustainable credentials of its services.
Octopus has opted to take the e-Expert van in Standard Professional trim with a 75kWh battery pack, allowing the vehicle to operate with a range of up to 205 miles (at least according to official WLTP figures) which will be more than enough for the fleet operating across the city.
Peugeot e-Expert: The Van
The Peugeot e-Expert has a one-tonne towing capacity and a payload of up to 1,226kg. With a load volume as large as 6.6m3, the van will suit a variety of business and private user needs. The electric motor provides up to 136hp and maximum torque of 260Nm.
Available with a choice of either a 50kWh or a 75kWh battery, each model can support chagrin rates of up to 100kW which makes for particularly rapid charging – a 0-80% charge can be completed in under 30 minutes for the smaller capacity model, or 45 minutes for the larger 75kWh battery-equipped version.
The Peugeot e-Expert provides significant financial benefits to businesses that may need to drive in and around cities with Ultra Low Emissions Zones (ULEZ), like London, as the vehicles’ zero emissions make it exempt from Congestion and ULEZ charges.
Available in the same three lengths as the regular diesel-powered model, the e-Expert can be ordered in compact 4.6m, standard 4.95m and long 5.30m versions.
The e-Expert forms part of Peugeot’s electrification strategy that aims to provide an electric variant across its range by 2025, and an electric variant for every LCV model in the line-up by the end of this year.

Alongside Octopus Energy, affiliated gas and electric supplier Smarter Metering Services Ltd has also placed an order for six e-Expert vans, in Standard Professional trim with 75kWh battery, to support their services.
