Video: First look at the new Kia PV7 electric van • Professional Van

Kia has revealed the PV7, a new medium-sized electric van promising more than 286 miles of range, rapid charging and payloads of up to 1,200kg.

Ahead of its public debut at IAA Transportation in Hanover, Professional Van’s colleague and YouTube star Jim Starling was meant to have early access to the PV7 for a closer look around Kia’s latest commercial vehicle. Air traffic control issues meant that didn’t happen, but Jim did at least get early access to the specs and some video footage.

Sitting above the award-winning PV5, the PV7 will be offered with 71.5kWh and 96.2kWh batteries. Its 800V electrical architecture is expected to support a 10–80% recharge in approximately 25 minutes, although that figure remains provisional.

The Cargo Long model provides 6.1m3 of load volume, a 550mm loading height and space for three Euro pallets. A High Roof version increases capacity to 8.0m3, while Compact and Chassis Cab models will also join the range.

Power output reaches 272PS and 420Nm, initially driving the front wheels. An all-wheel-drive version is planned to follow.

UK prices and final specifications have yet to be announced.
