Isuzu is bringing back the Steel Edition for its D-Max pickup, building on last year’s special model with refreshed styling and new technology. The new D-Max Steel Edition is based on the range-topping V-Cross trim and is limited to just 250 units in the UK.

Finished exclusively in Steel Grey Mica, the Steel Edition leans into its rugged persona with dark grey wheel arch extensions and roof rails, and a colour-matched Isuzu grille badge.

‘Steel’ branding features prominently on the outside, while the interior receives embossed headrests, LED scuff plates, and illuminated puddle lamps. It’s a more rugged, purposeful take on Isuzu’s flagship pickup.

Performance and off-road capability

The Steel Edition sticks with Isuzu’s proven 1.9-litre turbo diesel engine, producing 164hp and 360Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic gearbox.

The D-Max’s four-wheel-drive system is in place, with the new Rough Terrain Mode promising enhanced off-road capability. There’s also a rear differential lock and 800mm wading depth to help tackle tough conditions.

As with the regular D-Max, there’s a 3.5-tonne towing capacity and a one-tonne payload.

Interior style and safety tech

Inside, the Steel Edition gains the same revised infotainment setup as the latest V-Cross model, with a 9.0-inch touchscreen featuring faster processing and improved graphics. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come as standard, along with a new 7.0-inch driver information display.

Safety tech has been given an upgrade, too. The pickup now includes Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, Turn Assist, Attention Assist, and enhanced Traffic Sign Recognition. Lane Keep Assist and Autonomous Emergency Braking are also features, reinforcing the D-Max’s five-star Euro NCAP safety rating.
