Isuzu has teamed up with Point-to-Point (P2P), the grassroots version of British jump racing, in a partnership that feels like a natural fit for both brands.

A staple of the rural sporting calendar, P2P racing has been around for over 250 years. It began with landowners racing across open countryside between two church steeples — hence the term “steeplechase.” Today, the sport remains a proving ground for future stars, with over 70% of professional jockeys and 35% of licensed trainers starting their careers in P2P racing.

Held at 80 courses across the UK, each event offers a unique challenge for riders and their horses. But it’s not just about the racing. P2P fixtures draw large, enthusiastic crowds, with many racegoers enjoying the festival-like atmosphere, complete with food stalls, shopping, and entertainment.

The partnership makes perfect sense for Isuzu. The brand has a strong following in the equestrian world, and its D-Max pickup is proven to be a reliable workhorse. With a 3.5-tonne towing capacity and trailer sway control, the D-Max is well-suited for transporting horses and gear to race meets.

“We want a partnership which works both ways,” explained the chief executive at the Point-to-Point Authority, Paul Miller. “Working with Isuzu offers a great fit for promoting its brand to our audiences, and likewise, we look forward to seeing Isuzu sharing our brand across its platforms. Isuzu have a record of working alongside grassroots sports and that is exactly what Point-to-Pointing is about.”

Isuzu UK’s head of marketing, George Wallis, added: “We’re thrilled to partner with Point-to-Point, where the thrills of grassroots racing meet the skills of the capable 4×4 D-Max. Many customers and dealers are involved with horses at a local level so this all points to a stable partnership fit.”
