Munro Vehicles has unveiled a special Mountain Rescue edition of its Mk_1 electric truck.
The manufacturer of all-electric 4x4s — and Scotland’s only volume production car company — has tailored the Mk_1 to the requirements of Mountain Rescue and Fire Services who need a rugged, all-terrain vehicle capable of reaching casualties and wildfires in remote and challenging terrain.
Development of this special edition came after in-depth consultations with mountain rescue teams from Scotland, England, and Wales, and engagement sessions with various regional Fire Services. Standout features of the vehicle include roof-mounted blue lights and a provision to securely transport a stretcher, alongside space for three passengers and their equipment.
This Mountain Rescue variant comes shortly after the launch of Munro’s Mk_1 pickup in May. The introduction of this edition underscores the Mk_1’s versatility for both commercial and individual users. With unique capabilities, the Munro Mk_1 Truck and the Mk_1 Pickup cater to sectors like mining, construction, utilities, agriculture, and defence, helping them achieve upcoming decarbonisation goals without sacrificing performance.

The Munro Mk_1
The Munro Mk_1’s electric motor produces 381hp, combined with immediate torque of 700Nm — enough to accelerate from zero to 60mph in just 4.9 seconds. A lower-power model is also available, with an output of 299hp.
The truck’s 82.4kWh battery can be recharged from 15% to 80% in just 36 minutes when using a 100kW charger. On a full battery, the Mk_1 can travel over 190 miles, which equates to up to 16 hours of off-road operation on a single charge.
A spacious rear bed will take a single Euro pallet, with a maximum payload rating of 1,050kg. The Performance model offers a significant 3,500kg braked towing capacity, seamlessly hauling various items, from technical rescue tools to water bowsers and disaster relief equipment.
Designed, engineered, and built in Britain, the Munro is the first light vehicle to enter production in Scotland
in more than four decades.
