Volkswagen has previewed Connect Pro, a new digital platform intended to help fleets monitor vehicles, plan maintenance and reduce unplanned downtime.

Revealed at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hanover, Connect Pro promises to bring vehicle, driver, fleet and workshop information together through a single interface.

“Our customers buy more than vehicles,” said Stefan Mecha, CEO of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. “They buy uptime, productivity and business continuity. Above all, they buy a partner they can trust.”

Fleet operators will be able to view vehicle condition and maintenance requirements, with connected data used to identify potential problems earlier and support predictive servicing.

Volkswagen says this should help operators make maintenance decisions before faults leave vehicles off the road, although it has not set a measurable target for reducing downtime.

“We monitor, we predict, we act before a problem becomes downtime,” Mecha said. “That is what connected service should do: turn data into action, and action into uptime.”

What will Volkswagen Connect Pro do?

Connect Pro is being developed as an umbrella for Volkswagen’s business-focused digital services.

As well as monitoring vehicles and maintenance needs, the platform is expected to support future charging and energy-management services. Volkswagen also plans to connect it with other technologies being developed for commercial customers.

These include an Intelligent Loading Space concept, which can record equipment carried in a van, document processes and link its inventory with jobs or fleet-management systems. In theory, this could help operators ensure that the correct tools and equipment are on board before a vehicle is dispatched.

However, the manufacturer hasn’t confirmed when Connect Pro will launch, how much it will cost or which functions will be available from the outset. UK availability and a list of compatible vehicles have also not yet been announced.
