Toyota has unveiled the FT-Me, a tiny electric vehicle with big potential for urban logistics. Designed to navigate Europe’s busy city streets, this concept car offers a new take on compact, versatile transport that will be ideal for some small businesses and last-mile deliveries.
Measuring just 2.5 metres long, the FT-Me is perfect for squeezing into tight city parking spots, taking up just half of a standard space, or a third if you can park sideways in a bay. That kind of manoeuvrability will be a boon for businesses needing to park close to delivery drop-offs.
While technically a light quadricycle, Toyota refers to it as a “micro car”, highlighting its flexibility. Inspired by helmet design, it’s built to convey safety while staying stylish with a black and white exterior.
Built for business flexibility
The FT-Me isn’t just for personal transport. Its adaptable design adds a practical edge for small businesses and urban couriers. While it comes as a two-seater, the lightweight passenger seat can be removed to create a 1.6-metre-long storage space — perfect for carrying small cargo loads, parcels, or tools.
Access is controlled via a smartphone app, and business owners can set restrictions for multiple users, helping to manage who drives the vehicle and when. It’s operated with a square, almost yoke-like steering wheel, and in keeping with Toyota’s “mobility for everyone” mantra, it can be driven entirely by hand, making it accessible for drivers with disabilities.

Sustainable and efficient
Sustainability is key to the FT-Me’s design. Built from 90% recycled materials, it aims to reduce its carbon footprint by up to 90% compared to traditional city vehicles. It also promises to be impressively efficient, using three times less energy per mile than larger electric vehicles.
For those short urban hops, the roof-mounted solar panel can add up to 19 miles of range per day — enough to cover many local deliveries without plugging in. Toyota also claims that the FT-Me will be affordable, easy to maintain, and will offer the best residual values in its class.

Toyota FT-Me pricing and availability
While it’s currently a concept, a near-identical production version is expected “very soon”. We expect pricing to be competitive with the £7,954 Citroen Ami with a Cargo conversion, positioning the FT-Me as an affordable solution for businesses needing a flexible, low-maintenance option for city-based deliveries.
