The Torsus Terrastorm Crane is a factory-engineered 4×4 van and chassis platform that integrates heavy-duty crane systems directly into the vehicle, opening up new possibilities for off-road cargo handling where pickups lack capability and heavy trucks can’t reach.

Built on the Volkswagen Crafter / MAN TGE 4Motion platform, the Terrastorm Crane uses Torsus’s own heavy-duty 4×4 drivetrain with a low-range transfer case, all locking differentials, raised suspension (+60mm) and an 80mm body lift. Larger off-road wheels, complete underbody protection and a snorkel allow operation in deep mud, sand, snow, and up to 520mm of water.

Two versions are available. The van-based Terrastorm Internal Crane keeps the whole 15m³ cargo bay intact while adding a 500kg lifting system mounted close to the side wall and roof structure. The crane can slide sideways for better access and allows single-operator loading of sensitive or high-value cargo under full weather protection.

The Terrastorm Chassis External Crane integrates a hydraulic system offering a 720kg lift at 3m, 21.6kNm of lifting force, and up to 5.2m outreach. A 3m flatbed platform and a reinforced mounting frame with vibration damping give it the capability needed for construction, mining, agriculture and remote-area operations.

The Terrastorm Chassis External Crane integrates a hydraulic system offering a 720kg lift at 3m, 21.6kNm of lifting force and up to 5.2m outreach. Originally engineered for Ukraine’s explosive ordnance disposal and bomb-disposal teams, the chassis version was designed to move heavy equipment across unstable, hazardous ground where normal trucks can’t operate. With that capability proven, Torsus says the platform now suits a broader range of work, including construction, mining, forestry, remote infrastructure and even fire and rescue operations.

Torsus says the integrated approach – rather than an aftermarket add-on – delivers greater stability, simpler operation and the ability for one person to load and unload equipment safely. No specialist licence is required, making it within reach of fleets looking to reduce human resources and increase efficiency.

The Torsus Terrastorm Crane “is superior to any other truck- or van-mounted crane on the market,” explains Torsus co-founder and CEO, Vakhtang Dzhukashvili. “With exceptional agility and adaptability and unmatched performance across challenging terrain, the new Torsus Terrastorm Crane exceeds the capabilities and goes further than any rival product. It enables customers to execute hardcore cargo loading, carrying, and unloading duties in situations and terrains that they were simply not able to operate in before.”

Production is already underway in Slovakia and Ukraine, with global support handled via MAN and Volkswagen dealer networks. Pricing for a base Terrastorm chassis (without crane) starts from €90,000 (£79,500), with complete vehicle configurations built to order.
