Renault has unveiled the Renault 4 E-Tech Van, a compact all-electric LCV that brings a modern twist to one of its most iconic workhorses. Orders are now open in France, with prices starting at €29,300 before tax (around £25,400), though Renault UK is still weighing up whether to bring the model here. If it does, expect only a small allocation to make its way onto British roads.
The Renault 4 has a long history in the van world, most notably with the Renault 4 F4, which offered simple, lightweight utility with a 300kg payload. The new 4 Van keeps that spirit alive but brings it into the EV age, designed squarely for tradespeople, service providers, couriers and urban fleets.
Built on the same platform as the new Renault 4 passenger car, the van ditches its rear seats for a flat load tray with lashing hooks, a stop system, and up to 940 litres of cargo space. Payload is rated at up to 375kg, with a maximum load length of 1.2 metres. There’s even a small underfloor compartment (55 litres) for storing the charging cable.
Optional extras include a mesh partition to separate the cab from the load area – something any UK model will get as standard – as well as items like a luggage cover or anti-slip mat, depending on market.

Renault will be offering two motor and battery setups, starting with a 90kW (122hp) motor with 40kWh battery, offering a range of up to 191 miles. An upgraded model with a 110kW (150hp) motor and 52kWh battery pack will take you up to 254 miles.
Both versions come with an 11kW AC onboard charger, and DC fast-charging capability at 80kW (40kWh model) or 100kW (52kWh model). A 15–80% top-up takes around 30 minutes on a rapid charger, or just over three hours via AC.
Converted in France
The Renault 4 Van is converted at Qstomize, a long-standing Renault subsidiary based at the Ampere ElectriCity plant in Maubeuge, France. Qstomize specialises in bespoke layouts for business customers, from driving school cars to specialist LCVs, and ensures that the van’s warranty and after-sales cover remain fully aligned with Renault’s own.
A niche option for UK businesses?
Should it arrive in the UK, the Renault 4 Van is likely to be pitched as a last-mile delivery and service vehicle, competing with models such as the Peugeot e-C3 Van and even the Dacia Spring Cargo. It sits below the Renault Kangoo E-Tech, and rivals like the Ford E-Transit Courier and Vauxhall Combo Electric, with a noticeably smaller payload. Its appeal will likely lie in its combination of compact dimensions, passenger car comfort, and retro-inspired styling.
For businesses operating mainly in towns and cities, the 4 Van could offer an efficient, low-emission solution. But with limited cargo space and payload, it won’t be for everyone.
Renault UK is currently evaluating demand for the model. A decision on whether it will be offered here is expected later this year.
