The London Electric Vehicle Company (LEVC) has revealed a significant upgrade to its VN5 light van, which features a more potent and efficient battery pack.

The revamped 34.6kWh battery — an upgrade from the previous 31kWh unit — provides LEVC’s eCity powertrain with increased capacity and improved efficiency. This results in even lower CO2 emissions for the VN5 model, underlining LEVC’s commitment to enhancing air quality in urban settings.

With the upgraded battery, CO2 emissions from the LEVC VN5 are now only 17g/km, a decrease from the previous 19g/km. The enhanced battery capacity also translates to an extended driving range for operators, with the electric-only range improving to 73 miles (up from 64 miles) while its total range has increased to 328 miles, up from the former 318 miles.

Since 2019, LEVC has been producing the VN5 in tandem with its TX taxi at its state-of-the-art facility in Ansty, near Coventry.

This enhancement to the VN5’s battery follows LEVC starting its transformation from a vehicle manufacturer to providing comprehensive e-mobility solutions. Its Space Oriented Architecture, the world’s first EV platform focusing on space optimisation, promises to bring zero-emission mobility to a broader consumer base. It also paves the way for LEVC to branch out into new sectors beyond its existing TX and VN5 van models.
