London Christmas Tree Rental is reducing the environmental impact of Christmas by offering a tree rental service, with delivery by a pure-electric Citroen e-Dispatch van.

The collaboration between the two businesses will save nearly half a tonne of CO2 emissions, equivalent to the amount of CO2 estimated to be absorbed by nearly 2,000 Christmas trees over the festive period.

With seven million Christmas trees ending up in landfill each year, London Christmas Tree Rental encourages customers to ‘hire’ a tree for the holidays. Its Norway Spruce trees come supplied in pots and are collected after Christmas so that they can continue to grow, and customers can even rent the same tree year after year.

Citroen’s new e-Dispatch electric van will cover more than 2,000 miles as part of the initiative, saving more than 428kg of CO2 compared to an equivalent diesel-powered van. The all-electric powertrain will also help to reduce running costs thanks to the lower cost of recharging its battery.

Available with either a 50kWh or 75kWh battery, the Citroen e-Dispatch features a 136hp electric motor and is capable of up to 205 miles on a single charge. Supporting rapid charging rates of up to 100kW, an 80% charge can take as little as 30 minutes. Citroen’s van features up to 6.6m3 of load volume and a maximum payload of up to 1,226kg.
