The Caravan Salon, which calls itself “the world’s leading trade fair for mobile recreation”, begins today in Düsseldorf, with Volkswagen unveiling a special Amarok PanAmericana camping conversion alongside its new California Concept.
Volkswagen is showcasing its full range of camping models at the event, while visitors can test the new Amarok PanAmericana at the exhibition centre on select days.
Modified by Genesis Import, the special black-painted Amarok PanAmericana retains the pickup’s 3.0-litre V6 TDI engine, which develops 240hp and 600Nm of torque, all-wheel drive, and a rear differential lock.
Upgrades to tailor the Amarok for overland travel and camping include a rooftop tent, 270-degree awning, and a fully equipped Alu-Cab hardtop. BFGoodrich all-terrain tyres on Delta wheel rims, improved suspension, and additional lighting options such as LED roof lights and extra front-facing headlights ensure secure off-road travel.
Inside, the Amarok shares the same specifications as the regular PanAmericana, so the driver and passenger seats feature electric 10-way adjustment, while the 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system includes navigation. Additional comforts include leather seats, a leather-covered cockpit, and standard safety features such as Park Assist with front and rear parking sensors, cruise control, speed assist, ACC, and Dynamic Road Sign Display.
