The BYD E-Vali has received its first UK conversion, with Modul-System fitting out a long-wheelbase high-roof version of the electric van for parcel delivery, engineering and service fleet use.

The converted E-Vali has been revealed at Road Transport Expo 2026, giving UK operators an early look at how BYD’s large electric van could work as a practical fleet vehicle once it reaches the market.

BYD has already confirmed plans to expand its UK commercial vehicle range, with the smaller Dolphin Cargo electric van due to arrive alongside the Shark 6 plug-in hybrid pickup truck. The larger E-Vali van hasn’t been confirmed for a UK launch, but Professional Van understands that right-hand-drive versions will be arriving in 2027.

Aimed at operators needing a bigger electric van, the E-Vali is closer to models such as the Ford E-Transit, Mercedes-Benz eSprinter and Renault Master E-Tech than more compact electric vans.

First UK fit-out shows E-Vali’s working potential

The vehicle converted by Modul-System is based on the BYD E-Vali Long Wheelbase High Roof. It offers a load length of around 4.2 metres and an internal roof height of about 2.0 metres, providing the space needed for parcel delivery, utility, engineering, and mobile service applications.

To demonstrate that flexibility, Modul-System has created two different working environments within the same van. One side has been fitted with parcel delivery shelving, designed to help courier and last-mile delivery operators organise packages and access them quickly during the working day.

The other side features lightweight aluminium racking, aimed at engineering fleets, utility companies, telecommunications providers, highways contractors and mobile service operators who need the van to operate as a mobile workshop.

The demonstrator has also been fitted with Modul-System’s lightweight flooring, protective wall linings and vehicle-specific storage systems. The company says the aim is to show how the E-Vali can be adapted for different fleet roles without compromising payload or day-to-day usability.

Convertors strengthen BYD’s fleet case

The appearance of a fitted-out E-Vali soon after its appearance at Company Car in Action in June is an important step for BYD’s UK van ambitions, with fleets increasingly looking at how easily they can be adapted for real working use.

Kevin Walker, managing director of Modul-System UK, said the converted E-Vali was designed to show operators what is possible beyond the standard vehicle.

“We are incredibly proud to be the first vehicle conversion specialist in the UK to fit out the new BYD E-Vali,” he said. “Whenever a new commercial vehicle enters the market, fleet operators want to see what’s possible beyond the manufacturer’s brochure. They want to understand how the vehicle performs as a real working environment.

“That’s exactly what we’ve created. By combining our dedicated parcel delivery shelving on one side with our proven engineering racking system on the other, we’ve demonstrated just how versatile the E-Vali can be for different fleet applications.”

UK arrival expected in 2027

While we expect the van to appear on the UK market in 2027, specific UK launch details, including pricing, final specifications and customer delivery timings, have yet to be confirmed.
